Upcoming Workshops
April: Henri Rousseau, Naive Painting
![]() Henri Rousseau (1844 – 1910) was best known for his bold paintings of the jungle, teeming with flora and fauna. Yet this painter of exotic locales never left France. His paintings were made with imagination shaped by visits to the botanical gardens, and zoo. Unlike academic artists, Rousseau brought an openness to popular culture—illustrated magazines, dime store adventure novels, postcards, and photographs—often integrating their strong graphic quality and dramatic subject matter into his work.
In this workshop we will allow our own unique voices to wonder into the painting experience while using combined images either from home or selected from those Zoya brings. DETAILS Saturday, April 12, from10AM-2:30 PM Fee: $150. Payable by check or Paypal https://www.paypal.com/paypalme/zoyart Please see materials list below Class size limited to 8 participants University art, Redwood City,2550 El Camino Rea Please email to register: [email protected] |
May: Henri Matisse-style Interiors
![]() Henri Matisse (1869-1954) has long been recognized as one of the greatest painters of the 20th century. Matisse was a descendent of generations of weavers. His interiors often feature a multitude of textile patterns, open windows and bright colors. He famously said he wished his art to be “…something like a good armchair which provides relaxation from physical fatigue.” In this workshop we will put together original compositions and try out some of his techniques to create our own pleasing paintings.
